* * *

By the time we’d all recovered, I felt like a new man.

The bond strain was completely gone, replaced by a thrumming sense of power and connection. Both Sera and Lyra lay beside me, their bodies pressed against mine—one warm, one cool, both utterly satisfied.

A soft knock came at the door. Before any of us could move to cover ourselves, it opened and Ember slipped inside.

She froze at the sight of us—three naked bodies tangled together in the aftermath of very obvious sex. Her amber eyes went wide, her copper hair seeming to flare brighter.

"I— sorry— I didn't mean to—" She started to back out.

"Wait." I sat up, ignoring my state of undress. "It's okay. Come in."

"I can come back—"

"Ember." I kept my voice gentle. "You're part of this bond. You're allowed to be here."

She hesitated in the doorway, her gaze flickering between us. I watched her take in the scene—Sera's generous curves, Lyra's lean elegance, my own bare chest. Her cheeks darkened with what might have been a blush, though it was hard to tell against her dark skin.

"I just wanted to check on you," she said finally. "The meeting ended, and I thought..."

"We're fine." Sera sat up, making no move to cover herself. Her breasts swayed with the movement, full and heavy, nipples still flushed from our activities. "Better than fine, actually."

"I can see that."

There was something in Ember's voice—curiosity, maybe, mixed with uncertainty. Through the bond, I felt her conflicting emotions. Attraction. Nervousness. A longing she wasn't quite ready to acknowledge.

"There's room," Lyra said quietly. "If you want."

Ember's breath caught. "I'm not— I don't think I'm ready for..."

"Just to be close," I clarified. "Nothing more. Unless you want more."

For a long moment, she didn't move. Then, slowly, she crossed to the bed. She didn't undress—she kept her clothes on, a barrier between her body and ours. But she lay down beside me, her warmth adding to the tangle of bodies.

"This is strange," she murmured.

"Strange good or strange bad?"

"I don't know yet." But she didn't pull away. If anything, she pressed closer, her head finding my shoulder. "Ask me again later."

"Deal."

We lay there in comfortable silence, four people bound together by magic and circumstance and something that was slowly becoming more. Through the bonds, I felt contentment from all of them—Sera's satisfied warmth, Lyra's cool pleasure, and Ember's tentative but growing sense of belonging.

Whatever challenges lay ahead—the Sanctum, the Unmaker, the war that was just beginning—we would face them together.

And right now, in this moment, that was enough.
